Shade of Darkness

The soft sounds of night
Brings peace to my inner soul
Cool evening air whispers softly
And washes away the harried day

Rushing thoughts slow to a crawl
Problems seem to slowly fade
As the moon takes her majestic seat
The curtain of night is drawn

Nocturnal animals gather for their nightly prey
Watchful eyes search through the darkened sky
Sounds of wilderness abound
And all is at peace with one

Everyday events seem far away
As night drifts slowly forward
Heavenly stars sprinkled on the blanket of night
