HP 50g Calculator - Setting RPN or Algebraic Mode

The calculator offers two operating modes namely, Algebraic mode and Reverse Polish Notation (RPN) mode. The default mode is Algebraic. To change the setting:

From the Calculator Modes page using the choose box:

  1. Push and release the key.
  2. Press the soft menu key.

  3. Highlight the desired mode using the silver arrow keys in the choose box.

  4. Press the soft menu key.
  5. Press the key again to exit the 'Calculator Modes' page and save the setting.

Using the keyboard:

  1. Press the key.
  2. Press the key to toggle between 'RPN' and 'Algebraic' in the 'Operating Mode' field.
  3. With the selection displayed, press the key to save the setting and exit the 'Calculator Modes' page.

When Algebraic mode is the active setting, the 'ALG' annunciator appears in the display on the upper right.
