HP 50g Calculator - Operations with Units

Once a quantity with units is entered into the stack, it can be used in operations the same way the numbers used in the stack, except that quantities with units cannot be used as arguments of functions (say, SQ or SIN). Thus, attempting to calculate LN(10_m) will produce an error message: Error: Bad Argument Type .

For example, using CHOOSE boxes, to enter the product 12.5m × 5.2_yd and convert it to base units in RPN:

When multiplying or dividing quantities with units in Algebraic mode, enclose each quantity along with its units between parentheses ( ). Use the right arrow key to advance the cursor after the close parenthesis symbol appears on the edit line, and press the desired operation key or expression.
NOTE: The ANS(1) variable is available through the 'UNITS' menu and the keystroke combination , followed by the key.
