Description
The
calculator provides many tools to help manage variables and
directories. For example, variables and directories can be deleted,
copied, moved, and renamed. This document addresses managing variables
and directories for the graphing calculator.
Calculator symbol key
The procedures in this document use the following text to represent symbol keys:
Deleting a directory or variable
To delete a variable or directory, do the following:
- Use the FILE MANAGER to select the parent directory of the variable or directory that is to be deleted by pressing LS, then FILES.
- Highlight the name of the variable or directory that is to be deleted.
- To select PURGE, press NXT, then F1 (a message is displayed confirming that the variable or directory that was selected is to be deleted).
- Press F1 to delete the variable or directory.
- Press CANCEL to return to the DEFAULT display.
Copying or moving a variable or directory
To copy or move a variable or directory, do the following:
- Use the FILE MANAGER to select the parent directory of the variable or directory that is to be copied or moved by pressing LS, then FILES.
- Highlight the name of the variable that is to be copied or moved.
- Press COPY to copy the selection. Press MOVE to move the selection.
- Press cursor-up or cursor-down until the DESTINATION directory is highlighted.
- Press OK.
- Press CANCEL to return to the DEFAULT displayNOTE: A warning is displayed if the variable or directory that is being copied already exists in the destination directory. In this case, overwrite the existing variable or directory by pressing YES or ALL, cancel the operation by pressing ABORT or NO, or rename the variable or directory being copied by pressing REN. To check the new directory tree, press TREE
Renaming a variable or directory
To rename a variable or directory, do the following:
- Use the FILE MANAGER to select the parent directory of the variable or directory that is to be renamed by pressing LS, then FILES.
- Highlight the name of the variable or directory that is to be renamed.
- Press NXT, then RENAME (the alpha keyboard has become active; therefore, there is no need to press ALPHA before changing the name).
- Change the name of the variable or directory.
- To redisplay the contents of the parent directory, press ENTER.
- Press CANCEL to return to the DEFAULT display.
Editing variables
To edit a variable, do the following:
- Use the FILE MANAGER to select the directory that contains the variable that is to be edited by pressing LS, then FILES.
- Highlight the name of the variable or directory that is to be edited.
- Press NXT, NEXT, then EDITTB (the contents of the variable are now available).
- Change the contents of the variable.
- Press ENTER.
- Press CANCEL to return to the DEFAULT display.NOTE: The EDITB command allows the editing of variables with the use of the appropriate editor for the type of variable. For example, if the variable is storing a matrix, EDITB displays the equation in the EQUATION WRITER.
